Work-based learning solves a problem that many jobseekers face: It’s hard to get a job without previous work experience, and it’s hard to get work experience without a job. In this presentation, we’ll talk about supporting the diverse needs of every student, with an emphasis on creating, sustaining, and scaling Work-Based Learning programs. We will discuss several questions regarding WBL programming and touch on some of the most common challenges educators face, and how Transeo is transforming WBL.

FARMING YOUR FUTURE, an All-Hands-on-Deck Event- MaryBeth Napolitano

Annually, Herkimer BOCES School to Careers along with our partnering OHM and MO BOCES host an agriculture event called: FARMING YOUR FUTURE. This event is held at the Herkimer County Fairgrounds in Frankfort NY and targets grades 7-9. We involve a multitude of community partners; including but not limited to, exploring careers in the various components of Agriculture, Agribusiness, Natural Resource Management, Ag-Tech and Equipment, Animal Care and Livestock, food chain and end products. For safety measures we partnered with Fire, Law and EMS services. We utilized our CTE student population as well as our student interns as presenters, tour guides, etc. and also brought in our local FFA chapters. The Day is filled with career awareness, exploration and ultimately development. Fun and learning for everyone!
